I recently read Jason David BeDuhn's Truth in Translation and found it deeply intriguing and at times disturbing. I'll give some positive points and then I'll list my concerns. 1. Truth in Translation is a carefully crafted and scholarly work. BeDuhn brings a wealth of research and knowledge to the table. 2. Last words
Why is it very hard to tell your brothers and sisters what they really need to hear? You watch them hurting themselves and others. Then you start the "last words" scenario in your mind and rehearse what needs to be said. By "last words" I mean the words that a dying person can utter. Why are we scared to say the truth in love? Each week I teach a few Scripture classes in public schools. I enjoy seeing children learn Bible stories for the first time, since many of the students do not attend any church. Their enthusiasm and curiosity also help me to see the word afresh. Recently we've been learning the story of Moses and the Exodus.
