Leviticus 17, 18

The place is important. There was to be no indiscriminate choice of where the sacrifice was to be slain. Only at the door of the tent of meeting could God accept the oblation.

So today every act of faith which is acceptable is accomplished before Him who said, “I am the door” and only there.

Those who would do their contacting of God through nature in the open field are not taken into account. Those who would meet my God must not presume to meet Him because they have attained the top rung of social or cultural prestige.

All faith must be in Christ before it is true faith. All other persons, places, and principles are false resting points for faith.

The life of the flesh is in the blood. Blood is given upon the altar and is never to be eaten. He who consumes blood will ever have God’s face set against him (17:10). So with me. If I would save my life blood—forbear to pour it out as a sacrifice in opposition to the example of my Lord—then must I feel the flint of the face of God set against my purpose.

Father, take my life, yea, my blood, if Thou wilt, and consume it with Thine enveloping fire. I would not save it, for it is not mine to save. Have it, Lord, have it all. Pour out my life as an oblation for the world.

Blood is only of value as it flows before Thine altars.
